Isla Guanidup

Guna name: Kuanidup

Yes, you can visit Isla Guanidup in a single day. It sits in the Leisure and Culture area and is included in 1 of our day trips from Panama City, from $135 per person: pickup is around 5:00 am and you are back the same day.

A classic getaway: hammocks, palm trees, and spectacular sunsets.

Guanidup is the island for doing nothing. Hammocks strung between palms, water in front and little else, which is exactly what it promises. It is one of the best-oriented stops for watching the sun go down, though on a day trip you leave before it gets dark.

There is no organised activity here and none is needed. It is the point in the route where you eat slowly and spend the afternoon lying down.

Questions about Isla Guanidup

Can you visit Isla Guanidup in a single day?

Yes. You leave Panama City around 5:00 am by 4x4, cross into the comarca and continue by boat; you are back the same afternoon. No overnight stay needed.

How much does it cost to reach Isla Guanidup?

From $135 per person, depending on which of our routes you take. That price already covers the door-to-door 4x4, the boat, lunch and the guide. The only extra is the comarca entrance fee, paid once: $22 for foreigners and $7 for residents, in cash and directly to the Guna community.

How long do you spend on Isla Guanidup?

A day trip splits the morning and afternoon between the islands on the itinerary, so no single stop lasts all day. If you would rather stay on one island without rushing, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you which route comes closest.

Will there be a hammock free for me?

There are not enough for the whole group, and they go in the first few minutes. If dozing between palm trees is your plan, get off the boat without stopping to sort out your bag.

Do you see the sunset?

The island faces the right way for it, but a one-day tour heads back before the sun goes down. What you do get is lunch with no clock on it and a whole afternoon with nothing to do.
