Naranjo Chico has traditional cabins with families living in them, so what you visit is not an empty beach but an inhabited place. You see how people cook, how the washing dries and how an ordinary day goes in the comarca.

That calls for a different way of being there: you ask before photographing anyone and you go in where you are invited in. In exchange you take away something the deserted islands do not give.

Questions about Naranjo Chico

Can you visit Naranjo Chico in a single day?

Yes. You leave Panama City around 5:00 am by 4x4, cross into the comarca and continue by boat; you are back the same afternoon. No overnight stay needed.

How much does it cost to reach Naranjo Chico?

From $135 per person, depending on which of our routes you take. That price already covers the door-to-door 4x4, the boat, lunch and the guide. The only extra is the comarca entrance fee, paid once: $22 for foreigners and $7 for residents, in cash and directly to the Guna community.

How long do you spend on Naranjo Chico?

A day trip splits the morning and afternoon between the islands on the itinerary, so no single stop lasts all day. If you would rather stay on one island without rushing, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you which route comes closest.

Is it an inhabited island?

Yes, with families living their daily lives on it. You are not visiting an empty beach but a place where somebody is cooking, hanging washing out and getting through an ordinary day.

Can I photograph people?

By asking first. That one gesture changes the rest of the visit: you stop being a tourist looking on and become someone who is invited in. And where you are not invited in, you do not go in.
