Isla Perro Grande

Yes, you can visit Isla Perro Grande in a single day. It sits in the Limones Keys area and is included in 1 of our day trips from Panama City, from $135 per person: pickup is around 5:00 am and you are back the same day.

Perro Chico's "big sister," with more shade and a wider beach where you can relax.

Perro Grande lives in the shadow of its little sister’s name, and yet it is the one you enjoy more if you are staying a while. It has a wider beach and, above all, it has trees: there is somewhere to go when the sun is hard, which on the tiny cays is no small thing.

It does not have Perro Chico’s wreck, so as a snorkelling spot it does not compete. As a place to eat, lie down and wait for the heat to drop, it wins.

Which tours include Isla Perro Grande

One route reaches this island, and it is the one that sets the price.

What else you see the same day

No day trip stops at just one island. These are the ones that share the morning with Isla Perro Grande.

  • Isla Aguja (Iggodup) Recognizable by its row of slanting palm trees; calm waters ideal for families.
  • Isla Fragata Small and quiet, perfect for a swim stop away from the more crowded islands.

Questions about Isla Perro Grande

Can you visit Isla Perro Grande in a single day?

Yes. You leave Panama City around 5:00 am by 4x4, cross into the comarca and continue by boat; you are back the same afternoon. No overnight stay needed.

How much does it cost to reach Isla Perro Grande?

From $135 per person, depending on which of our routes you take. That price already covers the door-to-door 4x4, the boat, lunch and the guide. The only extra is the comarca entrance fee, paid once: $22 for foreigners and $7 for residents, in cash and directly to the Guna community.

How long do you spend on Isla Perro Grande?

A day trip splits the morning and afternoon between the islands on the itinerary, so no single stop lasts all day. If you would rather stay on one island without rushing, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you which route comes closest.

So, Perro Chico or Perro Grande?

It depends what you came for. The small one has the sunken boat; the big one has trees and metres of beach. Neither does the other's job, and they are not on the same tour.

Is this the island to have lunch on?

Yes, if the sun is punishing you. It is the only stop of that day with real tree cover, and it does not depend on whether the one good palm tree happens to be free.
