Waily is one of those islands that never shows up in searches and appears in the itinerary without warning. A small cay, very clear water and very few people: the quiet stop inside the western route, which starts at Chichime with sailboats and carries on at Franklin with atmosphere.

There is nothing to do here beyond getting into the water and being there, and for a lot of people that ends up being the stop they remember from the day.

Which tours include Isla Waily

One route reaches this island, and it is the one that sets the price.

What else you see the same day

No day trip stops at just one island. These are the ones that share the morning with Isla Waily.

  • Isla Chichime Two twin islands with the most photographed palm trees in Guna Yala; a favorite spot for sailboats.
  • Isla Franklin (Tubasenika) Known for its youthful and relaxed atmosphere; popular among backpackers and groups of friends.

Questions about Isla Waily

Can you visit Isla Waily in a single day?

Yes. You leave Panama City around 5:00 am by 4x4, cross into the comarca and continue by boat; you are back the same afternoon. No overnight stay needed.

How much does it cost to reach Isla Waily?

From $135 per person, depending on which of our routes you take. That price already covers the door-to-door 4x4, the boat, lunch and the guide. The only extra is the comarca entrance fee, paid once: $22 for foreigners and $7 for residents, in cash and directly to the Guna community.

How long do you spend on Isla Waily?

A day trip splits the morning and afternoon between the islands on the itinerary, so no single stop lasts all day. If you would rather stay on one island without rushing, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you which route comes closest.

Is there anything to do on Waily?

Nothing organised: clear water, a tiny cay and time. It sounds like very little, and yet it is the stop most people mention when they climb off the boat in the afternoon.

Is it the quietest of the three western stops?

It is. The day starts with sailing boats at Chichime and carries on with music at Franklin; here the volume drops all at once. When the guide asks where to stretch the stop, this is usually the winner.
