Chichime is not one island but two, very close together, with a strip of shallow water between them. Its palms are among the most photographed in all of Guna Yala, and if you have ever seen an image of San Blas with sailboats behind it, chances are it was here: this is a regular anchorage, so there are almost always boats moored in view.
That gives it a different feel from the other stops — more movement, more people passing through. It is one of the islands in the comarca with the most life of its own, for better and for worse.
